Urodynamics is sometimes needed so that urologist can decide for surgery as a treatment, of the obstruction caused by benign prostate growth. This aggressive test involves placing catheters through the patient's urethra and anus.
Researchers from New Zealand presented a paper that uses a more practical device, similar to a cuff of the apparatus used to measure blood pressure, that is placed around the penis and can give important and accurate information, which also help the urologist decision. Due to it's simplicity, this device, easy to apply, deserves attention and should gain traction as a diagnostic aid.
